Superspeed+ USB3.1 is Now Ready to Provide Data Transfer Speed Upto 10 Gbps

Superspeed+ USB 3.1

5 years ago when USB 3.0 came, it rocked the users by providing superfast data transfer speed upto 5GB/s, around 11x faster than its predecessor i.e., USB 2.0 which was capable of transferring data at a speed of upto 480 Mbps. Earlier this year, the trade organization behind the USB 3.0 specification proposed a new version of USB 3 that supports 10 Gbps of data transfer over a backwards compatible connector. Its logo features a SUPERSPEED+ caption. According to the officials, the specs are now finalized and the first developer session will begin later this month.

USB 3.0 Promoter Group Chairman, Brad Saunders has said that:
The USB 3.1 specification primarily extends existing USB 3.0 protocol and hub operation for speed scaling along with defining the next higher physical layer speed as 10 Gbps.
TI Consumer and Computing Interface Product Line Manager, Roland Sperlich said that this will be compatible with the backward technologies i.e., USB 3.0 & 2.0.

Looking at the progress they've made so far, we can say that the products featuring USB 3.1 will come somewhere in April-May 2014.
