How To Block Any Website In Windows

So you want to block any unwanted website on your windows PC? Here I came up with a simple trick to restrict access to certain websites. This method is very straightforward and you can easily apply it to restrict the users from accessing certain sites. No matter which browser they are using or what time of the day the use, this trick will certainly work.

The best thing of this trick is that you don't need any third party software to block a site. All you have to do is to make some additional changes in the Windows Hosts File. It is an effective method to restrict users from accessing the sites you don't want them to see.

How to block a site?

• Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.  

• Now look for the file named hosts and copy it to the desktop.

• Now open the file in notepad. 

• Navigate the cursor to the bottom and write 127.0.0.1, hit one spacebar and write the address of the site you want to block. For example you want to block YouTube then write 127.0.0.1 www.youtube.com. (Note: You can also enter the site address without www)

• If you want to block multiple sites then continue to add site address after writing 127.0.0.1. Refer to the image below to know how.

• Now save the file and replace this edited file with the file located at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.

• Please note that before replacing it with the original file, backup the original hosts file.

• Now open the browser and try to access any of these sites. They will not be accessed this time.

• Done!!!
