The rumors about the acquisition of Twitch by Google Inc. is now confirmed. According to GamesBeat report, Google has bought Twitch for over $1 billion. The deal is finally confirmed yesterday.

In the last couple of months, it was rumored that many top level companies like Google and Microsoft have shown interest in buying Twitch. A website Eurogamer.net reported in may that Google may acquire the online streaming website Twitch and now, the deal is finally confirmed.

Twitch was launched in June 2011 and very quickly, it became popular among the online gamers. Twitch is most known for its streaming video game integration on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Microsoft said it streamed 2.7 million minutes of footage the day the Twitch app launched on Xbox One, the most it ever had on a hardware launch. According to twitch, more than 50 million people watch videos every month.

Twitch is much popular among the gamers because of its feature of streaming the gaming videos directly. Many popular video streaming websites like YouTube and Vimeo doesn't offer such features so that's might be the reason Google showed interest in the acquisition.

Experts are saying it the biggest acquisition after YouTube which Google did back in 2006.
